Think in terms of flow
Material handling is most efficient when teams understand where material originates, how it will move, where it will wait and where it must finally reach.
Identify bottlenecks
Loading points, narrow routes, equipment availability, shift changes and unloading capacity can limit throughput. Mapping these constraints helps set realistic operating plans.
Coordinate people and machines
Clear communication between operators, supervisors and transport teams is essential. Waiting time and unsafe interaction can increase when responsibilities are unclear.
Keep safety visible
Traffic management, designated routes, signalling, housekeeping and equipment checks are important elements of a controlled material-handling environment.
Each mining site has its own operating procedures and regulatory requirements. Material-handling plans should be aligned with the project’s authorised methods and safety system.
